Throne Of Katarsis. One of the most evil black metal band hailing from Norway. The release of their third album is an occasion to meet one of the black souls behind this name : Infamroth.

1. Hello! First, the catharsis, the purge of the passions, what does it mean?
Is your music a sort of catharsis for you? The extermination of the Holy always stood out as an important issue, the Unholy Holocaustwinds. This cleansing can be the catharsis, but so can the cleansing of the self, chocking the old values, and let the Beast become you. The throne belongs to the self, to the inner Beast, therefor to Satan!

2. What does this last album mean to you, compared to the previous ones?
We were heading for a darker direction, in my opinion, taking the material further, ending up with a totally dark output. The fact that we don’t strive to sound like any of the pioneer bands, but compose right from our souls, and breath the art of Darkness has made this album to what it is.

3. Where do you get your inspiration?
Death, decay, darkness... The fire is always burning inside of us; we are all extremely focused on what we’re doing. The atmosphere is the result of us gathering, and for some reason the output gets more negative each time. We all have dark sides; I guess we’re just good to take advantage of it.

4. You try to follow the original rules of the black metal, why?
We do not “try to follow” any rules, this is black metal how we see it, feel it, breath it. Without future hopes, keyboards, industrial samples or whatever “break the rules”!

5. In your opinion, what is the true ideology lying behind the black metal?
The worship of the total Darkness, Satan and the Self!

6. What do you think about the modern black metal?
I don’t listen to such, I even don’t know which bands who do “modern Black Metal”. I still buy allot of demos and obscure albums released these days, of bands who reach me on a deeper level, but I’m pretty sure this doesn’t count as modern. It’s eihter Black Metal or NOT, I do not count bands who play “black metal riff and vocals” as Black Metal if the setting is wrong. Ideology, feeling and attitude must be present!

7. Do you think that the black metal will live on because of the new subgenres like avant-garde, post-black, etc.? Can you tell us your opinion about those subgenres?
I don’t give a shit about this subject.

8. You're not the only "young" band playing a raw type of black metal, I'm thinking of bands like Beastcraft, Koldbrann, etc., what do you think about the modern norwegian scene of black metal? Could it be called "the second wave"?
There’s some worthy bands today, like Vemod and Min Kniv. The situation is like it’s always been, some great bands and alot of loosers.

9. What does "Ved Graven" mean and why did you choose this name?
The title “By The Grave” is an image of your own death. The last moment of clarity, just to see it’s all too late. You see your grave between those huge waves, soon to crush you. The theme is from one of the lyrics I wrote, “Av Dypets Kulde”. Translated excerpt:
"By the edge of the cliff:
Suddenly it’s all clear
One second of silence
A glance of truth
For just to realise it’s all too late..
Total devotion to the cold hate of the abyss..
Total devotion to the Pest, the Fog, and the Eternal Darkness..."
This is pretty much the feeling that’s poisoning the entire album.

10. What place does the concerts take in your life of artist?
We was supposed to do a European tour last month, but is got cancelled two weeks before we were supposed to hit the road. Still fucking pissed cause of that! So, yes, we do live rituals.

11. What is your opinion on the contemporary christianity?
As cunning and false as always!

12. A last word for your fans?
No. But if you happen to check out the album, put out the light and use this piece of poison the way it should. You do have your inner demons, and they will understand the message. Don’t fucking check it out on youtube you geek, that’s just how to ruin the experience. I Evig Blasfemi!
